Affiliate Requirements

Energy and enthusiasm for data and journalism will mean we’re aligned in mission and values.

You’ll need flexibility to manage, recruit, communicate, and strategize effectively. You’ll be expected to embody the AWW ethos while exercising independent judgment and strong instincts.

Above all, we’re looking for people who bring passion, ambition, and an appetite for challenges.

In return, we offer you an opportunity to build a team in your vision, continue your journalistic endeavours with the support of the network, and to contribute to what we believe is a much needed sea-change in journalism in the United States.

Our onboarding process will give you and your team training on using the bespoke in-house tools:

  • Verbatim (database application)
  • Automated systems:
  • Court Dockets
  • Police Press Release

Each Affiliate Group will be responsible for:

  • Verifying data accuracy
  • Meeting journalistic output quotas
  • Generating third-party-usable insights

The AWW methodology uses journalism interns for front-line data capture and each affiliate group will be responsible for the recruitment and management of their intern cohort.

As well as a suitable number of interns, internal support roles will be required and depending on the capabilities of suitable candidates, this could be initially a single role or up to three individuals.

From time to time, temporary external resources may be required, the sourcing and management of which will fall under the remit of the Affiliate Group.

Opportunities for advertising revenue are available but these will fall under centralised leadership guidelines on advertising partners and all advertising content should be strictly monitored and moderated.
